I’m a lifelong runner, former Rugby player and ex Royal Marine. I’m originally from Leamington Spa in Warwickshire and after to moving up north in 2008 I decided I didn’t want to go back down south and settled down in Bolton. After setting up my running club in Bolton in 2014, I also decided I wanted to bring back the Bolton Marathon. As one of the largest towns in the UK it should have a big mass participation running event! And it used to!

I’m driven by doing the right thing and making a difference. And at the Bolton Marathon we have the opportunity to do both, as well as re-establishing Bolton as one of the leading places to run in the World!

When I’m not running around Bolton or organising the race, I escape to the countryside with my Dalmatian Harvey!

A super organised Mum of 3 grown up children whose previous career includes having my own business for many years in Bolton that made a biodegradable hanging basket liner and supplied garden centres and nurseries throughout the UK and the US and Canada.

I have always enjoyed sport and throughout school excelled in cross country, hockey, netball and athletics. This love of being active continued into my adult life with rounders, running, Attending British Military Fitness (where I met Rich the Race Director) and even had a go at sprint triathlon events.

Events I have completed are the Great North Run, Paras 10, Tough Mudder, Total Warrior, – and the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride last year, but sadly, those days are over now as I have recently had a full knee replacement but pleased to say I am back in the gym, cycling,  and walking my dog in our lovely countryside.

I have always encouraged my kids (now grown up) to be involved in sport due to the benefits sport has on physical and mental health.

I love my role at the Bolton Marathon as it encompasses all I enjoy:

Meeting people, helping others and being part of something new that will bring people together.

I am a mum of 2 and we love spending our spare time exploring all that Bolton has to offer on our doorstep. Whether it’s a walk round Entwistle or a visit to the Bolton Library and Museum.

I have been a lover of sports from a young age whether it would be watching my dad play football on a Saturday afternoon as a young child or travelling the country playing netball with YMCA. I now love being able to take my own children to their sporting event and enable them to pursue healthy and active lifestyles.

I have a really exciting role as the Community Engagement Officer for the Bolton Marathon. It is a great opportunity for me to engage with all areas of the Bolton community about what a fantastic event this ‘proper marathon’ will be and make it a year round project that impacts the lives of more than just those who run.
