We have a charity!
One of the main aims of the Bolton Marathon is to give back to the local community and on 12th October 2020 we received confirmation that the Bolton Marathon Community Trust had been accepted onto the Charity Commission’s register as a registered charity in the UK!
It’s been a long road to get to this point and the Board of Trustees have been great, completing all the required paperwork, mainly over Zoom, alongside their day jobs and other commitments.
The Bolton Marathon Community Trust has been set up to distribute all the profit from the Bolton Marathon, 10k and sales of merchandise and virtual events to local causes aimed at getting local people more active and leading healthier, happier lives. That could be a running club or a school, a church group or charity. The funding could help pay for training, kit, facilities or staff to deliver the project for the benefit of others.
It’s been a tough few months and there will no doubt be more tough times ahead for all groups but keeping active is key to good health, both physical and mental and we are excited about the future impact the Trust will have on groups across Bolton, and as the Bolton Marathon grows, across the wider region and maybe the whole of the UK!
How to apply
The charity will begin accepting applications in early 2021 and full details of how to apply will be found on our website nearer the time. To keep right up to date with everything, sign up to our newsletter by registering your interest HERE.
